Happy New Year! Hopefully you all enjoyed the holidays and your year is off to a great start. California has been inundated with rain, wind, and flooding, with rain forecasted for at least the next week. We were happy to get rain after years of drought, but the soil is now so saturated that distressed trees are falling down in large numbers and creeks are overflowing everywhere. I’m fortunate to live at the top of a small hill, so no flooding in my yard, thankfully. My sympathies to those dealing with weather-related disasters.

Now for a happier topic. Last year I started an author interview series, not knowing if it would be well-received and something I would continue into this year. I also didn’t know if I would enjoy doing it, making it worth my time and effort. But the response from the readers I’ve heard from has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’ve discovered that I really enjoy getting to know other authors and a bit about their writing experience. Not only that, I’m discovering all kinds of books I want to read, and have already read some and posted reviews on Amazon and/or Goodreads.

Do you post a review when you read a book you enjoy? If not, you should. It’s hard for authors to get reviews, because such a small percentage of readers post them, even when they love a book. Writers really appreciate them and they make a big difference in getting the book noticed by other readers. They also play a part in Amazon’s algorithms, leading to additional exposure.

So, I’m putting out a call to published authors who would like some free publicity. If you are an author with a published book or know someone who is and would like to be interviewed on my blog, I would like to hear from you. Besides posting the interviews on my website, I also promote them on my Facebook writing page, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts, as well as my Runaway Publishing website. I’ve heard from my followers who were interested in books they read about in the interviews and might not have otherwise found.

If this sounds appealing or you’re interested in finding out more, email me at heidileliason@gmail.com. You might find some new readers and fans.

  1. I’m so glad you’re continuing with the author interviews on your blog, Heidi. I really enjoy “meeting” new authors. And don’t forget to include some of your own adventures as well.
