Heidi in Sequoia National Park

I saw this interesting article, The Healing Power of Nature, and am not surprised there is scientific evidence showing the healing benefits of nature. A walk in the city just doesn’t have the same benefits as a walk in the forest, according to scientists.

  1. So very true! Just like a walk outside is so much more pleasant than on a treadmill inside. While you were at Sequoia did you also check out nearby King’s Canyon?

    1. Hi Linda! I’ve never liked the treadmill and don’t have a gym membership because I much prefer hiking, biking, or walking–anything that gets me outside.
I didn’t make it to King’s Canyon, so that is on my list of places to visit.

  2. Oh my gosh, you look so teeny-tiny in front of that magnificent redwood tree! I couldn’t agree with you more that the benefits of being in nature beat almost anything else. I think the Japanese have termed it “forest bathing”, where you get out into nature, walk slowly, stop often, and take in the beauty and peace of your surroundings. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness, free up creativity, and lower heart rate and blood pressure. Let’s go for a hike soon!

  3. The healing power of nature is something I have known intuitively my entire life. However, it is nice to see that science backs up my own observations. In my opinion, Nature not only heals, it is essential for life.
