I was a bit anxious. I wasn’t sure if anyone would show up, or if I would remember what I was planning to say, or if people would laugh in the right places. My fears turned out to be unfounded, because I had a great turnout for my book launch party at Orinda Books, people laughed, and everyone seemed to have a good time. The only problem was, I sold out of books!
More people came than I was expecting, including a number of people that I didn’t know. I thought I brought a lot extra books, but apparently not enough. The bookstore told me that my books sales were among the highest they had for a book launch, so they were pleased. (I guess some people only sell 5 books.)
I credit this book launch party success to the incredible efforts of my street team: Nancy (event planner and publicist extraordinaire), Julie (event photographer and chef extraordinaire), and Dan (event coordinator and customer service extraordinaire). I was so happy to have so many of my friends and family there to help me celebrate the launch of my first book. Thanks to all!
Many congratulations, Heidi! I think you need to own a book store {:)

Thanks, Brenda! I used to want to have a bookstore, but it’s hard for bookstores to make it these days. I think I’ll just focus on filling the stores that are out there with books. 🙂

The launch was a great success, and a fun, and wonderful celebration of your book, Heidi! Congratulations! Your talk was beautifully done – such a well organized, warm, revealing, inspiring, introduction to your book, and to you as a writer, and as the hero of your story. I loved it! Thanks for all your appreciation. I had a lot of fun helping out – but really, you planned it so well, and did such a great job with your talk, I knew it would be a real success, no matter what. :o)
