The Holidays

We had a great holiday with family at our annual Christmas brunch. Both our moms came, as well as my brother, Gray, who was visiting from Minnesota, and Dan’s youngest son, Ryan. Since Dan’s mom, Polly, will be 98 next month and my mom, Merle Jean, will be turning 88 a few months later, we feel so fortunate to have them. It was so nice spending time with everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with loved ones, whatever you celebrate.

Holidays are a wonderful time to reflect on all that we have in our lives. Like you, my readers! I’m grateful for your friendship, time, and support and for following my blog. We have so many different things demanding our attention these days, I don’t take for granted the time you spend on my blog posts.

Should I Continue Author Interviews?

I have discovered that one of the best things about being a writer is getting to know other wordsmiths. Finding creatives who share your same passion for reading, storytelling, and sharing experiences is interesting, affirming, and comforting. That’s why I’ve been enjoying the author interviews I’ve been doing the past few months. But I wonder, are you—my blog readers—enjoying them too?

One of my goals for doing the interviews was to “pay it forward” by supporting other authors. So many people have boosted me up during my writing and publishing journey by sharing information and resources, interviewing me, inviting me to speak at events, buying my book, posting reviews, and recommending my book to others—I want to do the same.

Another goal was to help my readers find a book or author to enjoy and give them a peek at what these writers go through to get their books out into the world. It makes me feel like I’m doing something of value for others. But I didn’t realize how much it would do for me at the same time. Win-win-win!

I feel privileged to know these talented, hardworking artists, and I’m grateful for the time they spend answering questions and providing book covers, bios, and images. It takes time and effort to respond to interviews and also to publish them, so if my blog followers aren’t interested, I don’t want to continue them.

As I look forward to posting in 2023, I want to provide content that is interesting to you. Time is so precious, and I don’t want to waste yours with blog installments you’re not interesting in reading. Since most of my readers are shy about posting comments, sometimes it’s hard to know what you would like to see here.

So I’m asking, should I continue the author interviews?

If you don’t want to read author interviews, what would you rather I write about? Travel, life, dogs, book reviews, or . . .? I would love to hear your thoughts. And if you’re an author with a published book and would like to be interviewed, I hope you’ll contact me.
