In my book-in-progress, Confessions of a Middle-Aged Runaway, I have a chapter describing the thrill of seeing hundreds of hot air balloons taking flight outside my motorhome at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, as shown in the photos above and below. My new life was also taking flight at the same time. I had just sold my house, quit my job, and bought a motorhome for a planned one-year journey that turned into five. Not only did the balloons floating by come in a vast array of colors, but I was amazed to see balloons of different shapes, too. Imagine my surprise when a stagecoach floated by in the air, followed by a pair of bumblebees, and then the Energizer bunny. I saw balloons shaped like a duck, bull, pig, alligator, witch, pumpkin, Jack-in-the-box, and even an upside-down Humpty Dumpty.

Now my website is taking flight, too. As I learn how to create a website, you’ll see things change, grow, and improve. I will also keep you posted on my writing process, my attempts to find an agent or publisher, or whether I decide to go the self-publishing route. I hope you’ll join me on this journey!

  2. The balloons are beautiful. You must have been full of joy and smiles that day. Reminds me of my balloon ride with my sister in Napa. An amazing adventure.

  3. These balloon pictures are awesome and so much better than I imagined! Definitely include them in your memoir. We haven’t discussed that, but I think including pictures and graphics is totally appropriate. Multi-media and all that.
